Mr. Friederici:

Thank you for your persistence! I've been a very busy person and am just now getting back to more genealogy.

To start, I'll just include the lineal ancestry of Kathy, my husband's half-sister, starting with Henrietta Matilda Maedgen, her great-great-grandmother.

Henrietta Matilda Maedgen was born 2 Sep 1837 in Hildesheim, Germany and died 11 Jun 1891 in Bell County, Texas, USA. She married John Henry Spohn on 1 Jan 1857.

Henrietta's father was Franz Joseph Maedgen/Madgen, born 30 Jun 1796 in Heiningen, Germany and died 19 Jul 1868 in Milam County, Texas, USA. He married Maria Christina Friderici on 19 Nov 1829 in Hildesheim. Maria Christina was born 19 Sep 1807 in Hildesheim, Hanover, Germany and died on 22 Aug 1894 in Troy, Bell County, Texas.

Maria Christina Friderici's parents were Joseph Friderici and Henrietta Sicker. The following is Maria Christina's birth and baptismal record from the Kath. Kirchenbucharchiv der Diozese Hildesheim, which another researcher sent me:

"Auszug aus dem Verzeichnis der Getauften der Pfarrei Hildesheim, S.Magdalenen 6

Jahrgang 1807, Seite 101, Nr. 36

Name - Friderici Vornamen - Maria Christina
geboren am 19 September 1807 getauft am 30 September 1807
Eltern - Joseph Friderici und Henriette Sicker
Bemerkungen - Taufpatin: Maria Christina Sicker" [sponsor - could be Henriette's mother?]

Here is the record for Franz Joseph Madgen, also from the same Kirchenbucharchiv:

"Auszug aus dem Verzeichnis der Getauften der Pfarrei Heiningen 1

Jahrgang 1796, Seite 209

Name - Madgen Vornamen - Franz Joseph
geboren am 3 Juni 1796 getauft am 4 Juni 1796
Eltern - Franz Madgen und Josepha Nette
Bemerkungen - Taufpate: Franz Joseph Hoffmeister" [Sponsor, but don't know if he is related]

Here is the marriage record of Franz Madgen and Josepha Nette, parents of Franz Joseph Madgen, also from the Hildesheim Kirchenbucharchiv:

"Auszug aus dem Verzeichnis der Getrauten der Pfarrei Heiningen 2

Jahrgang 1788, Seite 67

Name des Brautigams - Johannes Franz Maedge, Jungling hiesiger Gastwirt [I don't know what this phrase means]
geboren am - nicht angegeben zu - nicht angegeben
Sohn der - nicht angegeben
Name der Braut - Jungfrau Johanna Maria Josepha Nette
geboren am - nicht angegeben zu - nicht angegeben
Tochter der - nicht angegeben
getraut am 1 Juni 1788
Bemerkungen - Trauzeugen: Friederich Schlegel und Christoph Dubenkrop, Muhlenmeister"

This is a copy of the death record of Elizabeth Friderici from the same Kirchenbucharchiv. I don't know how she is related to Joseph Friderici:

"Auszug aus dem Verzeichnis der Verstorbenen der Pfarrei Hildesheim, St. Magdalenen, Jahrgang 1837, Seite 74/75, Nr. 40

Name des Verstorbenen - Elisabeth Friderici, Ehefrau 60 Jahre alt
gestorben am 11 Oktober 1837 begraben 15 Oktober 1837
Eltern - nicht angegeben
Bemerkungen - hinterlaBt einen Mann und zwei majorenne Kinder"

I have more details on the lives of Franz Joseph and Maria Christina (Friderici) Maedgen, and I'll share that in my next message. I also have pictures of this couple (oil paintings) but they are not dated.

Thanks so much for your interest!

Nancy Maxwell
