not to take sides on any of this, I have this to offer. I have my ancestor William Griffin who married according to a Bible Record, Margaret McDole. William was from Lauren County SC (son of Richard Griffin). I think it is only logical to assume that the John McDole and William Griffin enumerated in the 1800 census of Pendleton are the same two men who were in Laurens.
