I am looking for descendants of Ambrose Madison, born about 1757 in VA. He served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting in King William Co., VA. He married Martha (Patsey) Duke. He and Martha sold land in King William Co., VA, and moved to Louisa Co., VA. He had a close association with Reuben Smith who married Elizabeth (Betty) Duke, sister to Martha Duke, wife of Ambrose Madison. He sold his land in Louisa Co., VA, and appears as head of household in the 1820 census for Montgomery Co., TN. He appears as head of household in the 1830 census for Todd Co., KY. He applied for a Revolutionary War pension in 1832 while residing in Todd Co., KY, saying he was age 75. He wrote his Will in 1829 saying he was a resident of Todd Co., KY, naming his wife, Martha, daughter Sarah Helen Madison, sons Mortimer B. Madison (married Emily S. Bowling and 2nd Martha __?__), John A. D. Madison (married Elizabeth __?__) and Richard H./P. Madison (married Susan Radford).
I suspect, but am trying to find proof, that this Ambrose Madison was previously married (perhaps to Betty __?__) and they had children named Parkes B. Madison, Ann Parkes Madison (married William Dickinson), Elizabeth Madison and Cynthia Madison. Parkes B. Madison died in Louisa Co., VA, in 1810 with a Will and his father was Ambrose Madison.
There is a Henry Madison, Sr., of King William Co., VA, who died about 1788-1789. He had three proven son, Ambrose Madison, Henry Madison, Jr., and John Madison. I suspect, but am trying to find proof, that the son, Ambrose Madison was the same Ambrose Madison discussed in the above paragraph.
Neither of these Ambrose Madisons are the Ambrose Madison, brother of the President of the U.S., who died in Orange Co., VA, on October 3, 1793.
