Thomas Medill/Madill b. mid 1700's

I am doing some research on the Medill/Madill name and have hit a roadblock with a Thomas Medill born sometime in the mid 1700's in Ireland. His son and grandson, also Thomas's are my 5th and 6th great grandfathers and I know they were born in 1824 and 1798. He was married to a woman with the last name Rutherford, but I cannot find her first name anywhere. They had at least 4 children that I know of: William b. 1792 (father of the famous Joseph Medill of the Chicago Tribune), Christiana b. 1796, John b. 1797, and my Thomas b. 1798. There may be more children than that, but those are all I can find. There is some evidence that William and Thomas (1798) and probably John moved to Canada around 1819, but the records are kind of haphazard that far back. Any and all information that can be offered about this side of the family would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you :)
-Margaret Medill
