I do agree with some of your statements that Madills were probably from Scotland and there is more evidence proving that true. It is still possible though that Madills originated from France, just a few centuries before the 1600s. They might have originated from France before coming to Scotland. It might be kind of far-fetched but Scotland and France had strong ties for many centuries so it isn't impossible that Madills have originated from France, just at an earlier time period. Unfortunately there are little records from that time that may prove this, but it is worth a thought.
