Michael
In the years since you & Vincent Madigan exchanged messages, did you guys sort out the questions about Martin Madigan being a coal miner or a stone mason??
My information is that Mark & Alice (Cummings) Madigan lived in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, PA at the time of the 1870 Census and he was a stone mason. He and his sons eventually moved to Westmoreland County, PA.
Martin & Anna (Nash) Madigan lived in Tioga County, PA at the time of the 1880 US Census and Martin was a coal miner.
Martin, Jr eventually became the Police Chief in Portage, PA.
I see that Steven now shows Martin Madigan as born in County Limerick, Ireland; not County Cork, in 1828.
Let me know.I am also working on Madigan Family Trees
Thanks,
Bill Madigan
