Maddux Family Genealogy Forum

John Henry Maddux was born March 24, 1833 in Meade Co., KN. In 1854, he married Mary Ann McKern (Aug 2, 1838-Indiana), daughter of Henry Pippenger and Catherine Collins McKern. In 1862 or 1863, the Madduxes and McKerns and possibly some related Cox and other families, took the Oregon Trail from Iowa to Walla Walla Washington, where they wintered and a daughter, Minnie Florence, was born. In 1863, they came to Yamhill County, Oregon, and bought land in Moore's Valley. Mary Ann (she went by Manie) died in 1889; John died in 1895. I know quite a bit about this family and some about Mary Ann's parents. But John's parents are still a mystery.
There were several Thomas Madduxes living in Facquer County, Virginia, earlier, which makes this family much more confusing. My Thomas Maddux named his youngest son, John Henry, in his will just before he died Dec 25, 1841. He had been living in Perry County, Indiana, wrote his will and registered it there, and came back to Meade County to die, possibly around Cloverport, KY. John's brother, Alexander, said their father was born in Greenbrier Co., now West Virginia. Michael Maddux raised John until he could be independent, while living on their father's land, along with several other related families, including the Shoemakers.
I think John's father, Thomas, was widowed and remarried. I think his second wife was Elizabeth Baysinger, and they moved to Perry County, Indiana around 1834, right after John Henry was born. I think she died before John died.
I would like to share with anyone related to this family, and maybe you can give me some leads on John Henry's parents.
