Looking for the line back from Lewis Maddex, his Father Aquilla died in Missouri in 1848. The spelling is from his tombstone though a branch of this family does use the "ox" spelling. Oral family history says Lewis and 3 or 4 brothers came to Missouri in 1820-21 from Kentucky, built cabins and wintered over and returned for their families the next spring. I am very new to this but some searching has indicated that Aquilla came to Missouri from Ohio. Thanks for your help .
