John Grindol Dies of Heart Trouble
John Thomas Grindol 77, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the family residence, 1012 South Broadway. He had been in failing health for the last four years, but not seriously ill until five weeks ago, since which time he had been bedfast. He died of heart trouble and compilations.
Mr Grindol was a son of the late Joseph and Sophia Grindol. He was born in Circleville, OH., on Dec 22, 1855 and came to Macon County with his parents when eight years old. For many years he farmed in the vicinity of Mt Zion. Eight years ago he came to Decatur, since then, until a short time before his death, he was employed by the Staley Manufacturing Co.
He leaves his widow, Ada Grindol and the following children: Archie Grindol of Decatur; Phays Grindol of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs Quinn Querry of Argenta; Mrs Opal Dorr, Mrs Ruby Brownlee and Mrs Jewel Gerhart all of Decatur. He also leaves five stepchildren.
The body was taken to J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted in the Moran & Sons chapel at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery

Buried next to him is Ada I. (Samons) Grindol 1878-Mar 7, 1959.
Also buried near is a Rhoda Maddox Grindol 1864-1903. No idea who she is.
His son Archibald married Hester Minnie Maddox, daughter of James Maddox & Rose Cameron. James Maddox is a brother to my grandmother and s/o Rhoda Maddox b. 1822.
