Hi, Marshall, Have you had your YDNA (being a direct male descendant) tested? It would be a great place to start for you with the circumstances you listed. After you have had that done - I recommend Familytreedna in Houston. All of my work has been done by them and they are excellent.

When you get the results, you may very well find other Maddox males that match and that will give you a great place to start investigating. You may not find the exact male, but you will find his family, and then go from there.

Have you investigated the Harris's thoroughly? Perhaps, thay were related somehow? Just to be sure so that you can eliminate them.
