I am an antique dealer and recently purchased the most exciting artifact I have ever owned and it has a Maddock family history.
It is the chamber pot that resided in the Lincoln bedroom of the whitehouse until 1952 when Bess Truman gave it to a servant.
The chamber pot was made by Thomas Maddock's Lamberton Works in Trenton, NJ probably around 1890. He specialized in creating "sanitary ware" in this country and at one time had about 80% of the business in the US.
His sons were also in the business. He sold the Lamberton Works in 1925.
I have an impeccable provenance trail for this item and am glad to share the details with anyone who would be interested. I would very much like to correspond with descendants. Please e-mail me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
