Maddeaux/Maddeux/Maddocks in CANADA

Just to get this forum started, I notice there ar4 49 MADDEAUX in the Canadian phone listings.

I know many who pronounce it the French way (mad-DOH) but there are some who say either MAD-ducks or even mah-DUCKS.

Is there any argument to be made that it was from French origins and (in some cases at least) started to be pronounced more like MADDOCKS because of the -eaux ending on the French name ?
