I can no longer recommend MacThomas North America, Inc.

Recently, the Board of Directors for MacThomas North America, Inc. adopted a new "policy." They made this "policy" binding upon the general membership without informing said membership of their intended action and without input from the general membership. They called their action a "policy" and enforced it without going through the process of updating and/or making changes to the organization's Constitution and associated By-Laws, which would have required a vote by the general membership. However, I do not believe that the existing Constitution and By-Laws grant the Board of Directors the authority or power to enact "policies" and make them binding upon the general membership. Therefore, I have resigned my elected position on the upcoming Board of Directors as of September 01, 2005. Likewise, I will no longer sponsor MacThomas North America, Inc. tents at various Highland Games here in North Carolina and cannot in good faith recommend membership in the organization for those with associated MacThomas surnames.

However, the official U.S. Branch of the Clan MacThomas Society of Scotland which is approved by and associated with Chief Andrew MacThomas of Finegand is highly recommended. You may visit its website at http://www.clanmacthomas.org for more information.

Respectfully,

Robert (Bobby) E. Thomas
Wake Forest, NC
