Bruce:
Got the info - thanks. Will print it out tomorrow at the Library - my printer is down at the moment. I'll look it over and see what I can find but from a glance over, it looks like the property IS being sold and Catherine is getting her Dower Rights out of the funds - it is plainly stated.
Marlboro County Records: I know that they say that their records were destroyed by the Civil War but they have never been able to explain to my satisfaction what happened between 1865 and 1911 which is when their records pick up again and then in 1920,the state of South Carolina started to ship their info to Columbia.
Marlboro Deeds go back to 1895 and prior - I've reserached those from time to time but not for the MacRae/McRae lines.
If you can find or library Borrow a book called "The History of Marlboro County South Carolina by Rev.J.A.W. Thomas - he collected the info and passed away before he could get it published ao his sone finished the book forhis father. published 1897 - I got a copy from Heritage Books Inc. Bowie, Maryland 1-800-396-7709
It has a listing of the units during the Civil War and who was in each SC Company - the follwing are the listings for the McReas Listed in the book : AD, AL, Alex ,Alexander, Angus , Barbara, CC, CM, Charles, Charles T, Chas, Christian Bristow, Christopher, Colon, Daniel C, Duncan, Duncan D, D,Frank, Ian,J, J Calvin, Jack ,James ,James A, James C, Jhn A ,Jno C, Jno R, John A, John D, John L, John T , Katie, Katy, Margaret. Mr., Mrs., Mrs. Charles T, Mrs James, Mrs. James, Mrs. Phillip, Murdoc, Phillip, Polly, Rodric, Sallie, Squire, T.F., Uncle Charlie, W.J., William.
Have you checked the Three Rivers Historical Society for their marriage records?
Have a good day
