I am descended from Ellen macRae (born September 1802 in Wick, Cathness Scotland to parents Peter MacRae and Margaret Fraser) She left Wick as a nanny and remained in the southern part of England where she married John Oatway of Barstaple. Their first child was born May 1836.
The family came to Canada in 1843 where Ellen already had Fraser relatives and the settled in the Perth area.
Does anyone have any information about this part of the macRaes from Wick? I have lots on Ellen's descendants but nothing of her history and am going to Scotland in another year and would like to track as musch as I can.
