Mary Ann- I have been researching MacRae for several years, and recently saw your posting. With the help of a geneaologist in Glenngary Ont. I have the following information, some agrees with you some does not. Starting with Duncan Macrae b about 1755 ( I show in Quebec) married Margaret Mcintosh (b abt1757)and married in 1775. They had a son Farquhar MacRae b abt 1776 in Quebec. He married Margaret Smith (b abt 1777 in Quebec). They had a son Farquhar John Ban Macrae b abt 1812 in Quebec. He married Mary Macrae (b 1811 in Charlottenberg Ont) in 1838.Mary Macrae was the daughter of John Macrae and Isabell Chisholm. John was born abt 1780 in No. Carolina and Isabell was born 10/11/1789 in Quebec. They were married 2/16/1804. This genealogy, through John and Isabell, leads, uninterrupted back to Christopher Macrae, and his son Black Finlay, credited with the founding of Clan Macrae. Black Finlay was born before 1416.Going forward, Mary Macrae and Farquhar John Ban Macrae had a son Peter, born March 1840 in Cornwall Storemont Ont. He married Elizabeth Macrae from Dundee,Que and moved to Saginaw, Michigan. There they had 3 children, John Livingston Macrae, Murdoch Farquhar Macrae and Mary Elizabeth MacRae. Murdoch Farquhar was my grandfather, and became a surgeon and is buried in Milwaukee, Wi.
I am not sure if any of this helps. Any changes you might have would be of interest
Regards
John Budde
