Hello Cecil,
I don't know who his parents were and I don't know where in Quebec he came from. Here is his land petition. He was born about 1737 and he died 3 Jan 1830 at D'Escousse, Cape Breton. He married Hedwige Clory. I have never been able to link him with any other MacPhees.

ON THE 1813 MILITIA ROLL HE IS LIVING IN ST. PETERS AND IS 57 YEARS OLD. John is listed as being 56 years old and as having been from Quebec. He is listed as being a fishermen living on ? acres of land at St. Peters. With John lives 1 adult women, 2 boys and 2 girls. John at this time has no horses and 1 oxen . John does not hold title to the land he is living on.

Item no.: 949 Mfm no.: 15791 Grantee: McFee, John Year: 1813 Petition to Swayne: Petitioner, born in Quebec has lived in Cape Breton since 1784. He served in the First N.S. Regiment for five years, has a wife and six children, is resident at Desgoose. He asks a lease of the land which he has occupied for the past 25 years. A petition of 1805 asks a lease of the same lot. Report of Crawley to Smyth: 158 acres, lot 6 in the Little Passage leading from St. Peter's Bay to Chedebucto Bay. Plan.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Vince MacNeil
