Hello Cecil,
Thanks for the thorough response. His death record says "Age: 93 Died: Jan. 3, 1830 Bur: Jan. 5, 1830, Spouse: Hedwig/Henriette Clory, Witnesess: Joseph Samson, Jean Martel Priest: Fr. Joseph-Jean-Narcisse Trudell Generation". The age at death could very well be off. They often had no idea how old they were back then. We know of four children born from 1786 - 1799. This would make him an elderly father if he was born in 1737. However, I do believe that soldiers often started their families later in life. We know of no siblings for John Sr. His known children were John, Louis, Adelaide, and Vincent.
I am the co-administrator of the Y-DNA project at Family Tree DNA. I will see if I can trace down one of these MacPhees. I descend 2x from John Jr.
We do know that our John was a soldier.

Vince
