Your on the same tracks I have followed into darkness. My mother told me Martha had been adopted, she didn't know then it was to Joseph and Penny, McNeil, McNeal, Macneal, I searched all different spellings. One of the Dubose elderly women many years ago confirmed the spelling to me as the latter. Mother did tell me she thought Martha's name prior was Carter. I searched some on the Carters but found nothing. There is also a third possible last name that I will have to look up and mail later. I haven't done much on genealogy in two years now. I just happened to dig out some stuff today while cleaning out drawers, then your email came in this evening. I fear that she will be like my great grandmother on my Carpenter side, no information available.
