In the History of Inverness on page 593 the family of Donald MacMaster (Weaver) is listed. In 1801 Donald came from Moidart to Creignish. He was married in Moidart to Catherine MacEachern (Aonghneas ic Tearleach) with issue: Angus, John, Duncan, Charles, Jane, Annie, and Mary. Mary was married to Hector MacNeil of Rear Creignish. In the Cape Breton Land Papers there is mention of Hector MacNeil giving land to Norman MacIsaac in payment of a debt. This land was at Low Point which is near Cregnish. At the registry of deeds at Arichat there is a land record for a Mary MacNeil and her son John MacNeil. Mary is described as the widow of the late Hector MacNeil of the Red Islands. John is described as the son of Hector MacNeil. They sold land at the Red Islands to Lauchlin MacNeil of River Denis. John and his mother Mary were living at Low Point in 1835 at the time of this land transaction and this is where the land record was signed. The witnesses were Angus McMaster and Angus McDonal. Mary MacMaster (Donald) had a brother named Angus. I wonder if this is the same Mary MacMaster and Hector MacNeil mentioned in the History of Inverness? Any information on this couple would be greatly appreciated. Vince Macneil Notify Administrator about this message?
