Now that I know you are in Canada I telephoned the Librarian in the North of Scotland to see if the Transactions are available in Canada and was told that the whole set are with 1.. The University Library, Guelp, Ontario, Canada, 2..The University Library of Toronto, 3.. The Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, and The Library of Congress, Washington, etc., all on the other side of the Pond. All you need is the articles which Willie wrote on the MacLeods of Lewis and it gives quite a lot of historical background to your query. It also gives the original references to the information at hand on the Colbecks, from which data you can then pursue a more detailed analysis. To add to the complete and categoric knowledge it would of course be essential to get all the extant Wills, and other particulars in the public domain, of the Colbecks to weave all the strings to-gether and get fuller information on the Colbecks. The point about family-tree data is that it is bare names only and sometimes quite boring but the better type of genealogy is details of each name involved, ie., where educated, which trade or profession, religious links and societies of interest of each individual involved ------ and so on. History of this nature does not come to a dead end as there is always something else to weave into the pattern of life. Now I think that I have written enough and my unpaid secretary is getting restless!!!!! Norman
