Helen, first I correct an error - Roderick, the last Baron of Lewis died in 1595, not 1493 as I stated.
Information about Donald of Lewis' brother will be difficult to find. Alick Morrison in his book MacLeods - the Genealogy of Clan, Section Four, is unclear. In one chapter he mentions Murdo as the uncle of the Planter, does not identify a brother although he implies there was a brother.
Morrison does note in another chapter on the MacLeods of Paabay & Uig (Lewis) that Iain (John) MacLeod (of the Lewis line) had a son Torquil who fathered Donald who fathered Colbecks the Planter and Murdo who became Forester for the Earls of Seaforth.
Morrison's book was published in 1974 and a lot of new information has turned up since. You might try to find a genealogy group in Stornoway who could help you.
Regards, Ron MacLeod
