The information I have came from letters my G.Grandfather received from his cousin Mary dated 1912. Mary was born about 1831, her father Norman was born 1803 and her Grandfather Murdoch was born 1750.

She said her Grandfather Murdoch was the only son of John MacLeod and John was a brother to the father whose son John went to Jamaica bought land around Kingston was known as John the Planter and became the MacLeods of Colbecks.
I was hoping when I found the name Donald and it was his son that went to Jamaica that I was on the right track, sinse Mary never mentioned anything about her G. Grandfather being the son of the sister of Donald and she seemed to be correct in other information.
Thank You for your info. Helen
