Your message refers to the Hector which sailed to Nova Scotia (in the late 1700's if its the same Hector you referred). If you Google ' Ship Hector ' you will find historical & modern info about the Hector, including a passenger list which is probably not complete and does not include a Maclellan. To trace back your ancestors a lot of searching is needed, often involving many months of digging into obscure references. Collecting what you do know is the first step. For instance do you know any of the names of your Grandparents. On your mums side you would likely know her dads last name but maybe not her mums. Then where to search? Google everyones full name to see if someone pops up that you recognise. Review Rootsweb, Ancestory, Cyndi's List. Good luck!
