Hi Ian,
I am researching the Barbour/Barber family tree and came across your request for information on the Maclean family tree. I live in Newtownhamilton and I do have some information on the siblings and parents of Fredrick and Robert Maclean. I am interested in Thomas Maclean, a brother of Fred , Robert and Hugh. Thomas was married twice and I was wondering if you knew the name of his first wife. Was she Sarah Barbour from Tullyvallen Newtownhamilton. Thomas married his second wife Margaret Garner Archer in Manhattan on 18 August 1909. His marriage certificate states that he is widowed, aged 25, an electrician and born in Ireland.

Below is a list of some of Fred's siblings:
Thomas
Sarah
Joseph
Hugh
Robert
Martha
Henry
Mary
Fred also had half siblings because his father was married twice. His half siblingsare as follows:
William Alexander and Mariah.
Fred's father aws called Alex Maclean and his mother was called martha Jane Ardis prior to her marriage. She was a spinster and Alex was widowed. They gor married in Sandy Street First Presbyterian Church in Newry on 1st November 1881.

Our relative, Adam Barbour was listed as a boarder with Fred's family in the 1910 Census Manhattan, ward 22, New York. Adam Barbour, made many trips between Newtownhamilton and New York. By 1910, Fred's father had died as the census states that Fred's mother is a widow.

Do you know who Sarah married? On one of Adam Barbour's shipping records he claims he is going to his brother in law, Thomas Maclean in New York. Do you know of any connection between the Macleans and the Barbours/Barbers. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Heather Barbour ( Tullyvallen, Newtownhamilton)
