Bruce,

I appreciate the information. I don't think your family is connected. Our MacLean/McClean/MacLaine/McClean family were in St. Catharines. Two MacLean brothers married two Stinson sisters in 1849 and 1853 at St. George's Church in St. Catharines. But it is one option. I still believe the family was in southwest Ontrio, due to photographs I have in my private collection taken in Petrolia and other places.

I won't rule out a connection in case tehre are some families I'm not familiar with.


The MacLeans had a merchant store on Jame St. in St. Catharines for many years up to the 1940's or so. It changed handss a few times after that, and became Savemores. Then became part of Coy Bros. Store that recently closed down in 1990's.
