My ggfather, David Shaw Bethune, 2nd m. Willie Mclean, probably in Union Springs, Bullock Co,.Alabama, abt 1896. Willie was born Aug 1869, place unknowm, parents unknown. Bullock Co. was formed 1866 fro Barbour, Macon Montgomery and Pike Cos. Bethunes were in this area as early as 1830s.
David Shaw Bethune was apparently b. Sumter Dist., S.C. I think his father, John Bethune, lived in N.C. earlier. There were lots of McLeans and Bethunes in N.C. Any connection?
