Hi Donald,
Hope you get to read this message. Your ancestor Hugh McLean, Baker of Glasgow is my gt gt gt Uncle. He was born in Garvan, Ardgour not Mull. He was the son of Lachlan MacLean and Mary MacColl. Hugh's sibblings were Allan 1773-1832, he had a croft in Blaich, Ardgour, Katherine 1774-1868 she married a Lachlan McLean, they lived at Duisky and Garvan in Ardgour where she died, Ann 1778- she also married a Maclean (Allan) and lived at Garvan, John born 9th May 1784 at Garvan, another sister Jean, Alexander 1797-1862 the youngest son, and Mary 1803-1886 the youngest daughter, married John McNiven, they lived at Bottle, Liverpool. I always suspected there was a brother Lachlan, did he live in Glasgow as well?
Hugh's father Lachlan was born c.1751 in Ardgour and was a son of Allan MacLean who fought at Culloden, and survived.
I believe Lachlan had a son Archibald who is buried next to him at Cille Mhaodain, the Maclean burial ground of the Ardgour Maclean's, and buried on the other side Allan 1773-1832, his eldest son. Lachlan also had a son Hugh as well he married Ann McLachlan and they lived at Duisky in Ardgour.
I look forward to hearing from you as I do correspond anually with other descendents of your Hugh McLean, Baker of Glasgow.
