buckner and newton and macklin

Hello, I am researching my David Buckner who married Nancy Newton either in Kentucky or Southern Illinois. The name Macklin was used in their childrens middle names and on down the line quite a lot it seems. Does anyone have any info on why David and Nancy would have used the Macklin name for their son Leonard Macklin Buckner who I believe also named one of his sons with the middle name of Macklin?

It did not come from the Buckner side since I know the Buckner line from David on back and on down So I am assuming that it had to have come from the Newton side of the family.

Nancy Newton, who married David Buckner, fathers name was Joseph Newton and Ann Stephens Robinett was her mother. It may have come from Joseph Newtons mother who was married to John Newton but I cannot confirm that.

Any help would be appreciated.
