Lauchlin MacKinnon of Cape Breton

I am doing some research for my step-father John Ronald MacKinnon of Inverness

His father was Angus and his father was Alistair or Alexander (the same name in the Gaelic), and his father was Lauchlin from the Isle of Mull who is believed to have married a MacFarlane.

The story is that the Laird was going to claim the right of the first night at the marriage of Lauchlin and the young MacFarlane lady, so they left and went to PEI and then to Cape Breton.

We are unsure of whether they married enroute, in PEI or in CB.

Does anyone have this family in their genealogy?

Any help at all would be appreciated.
