Our family of Mackens was shipped out to Australia in very spurious circumstances in the early 1800. Some of these were convicts and some were free settlers, there are plenty of Macken living in Australia, if this could be of any help to you please feel free to send me an e-mail and maybe I can help with an Australian connection.
All our relatives came from Ireland in the first place, I don't know anyone who went to America although that is a very good possibility.
As I said before if I can be of any help please feel free to mail
yours truly
Robert Macken
