Randal, I hope you have had some luck. Johann and Heinrich are ubiquitous within the Mackes. I am not assuming that the following Heinrich Macke is your ancestor but the book might be helpful. I do not have a copy but a good library, should have access to it. Especially in a Nebraska with its many ethnic-german families.

Name: Heinrich Macke
Year: 1833
Place: America
Source Publication Code: 8595
Primary Immigrant: Macke, Heinrich
Source Bibliography: SMITH, CLIFFORD NEAL. Emigrants from the Former Amt Damme, Oldenburg (Now Niedersachsen), Germany, Mainly to the United States, 1830-1849. (German-American Genealogical Research Monograph, 12.) McNeal, Ariz.: Westland Publications, 1981. 84p.
Page: 26

Please let me know what you discover. My ancestor was also a Johann Heinrich "Henry" Macke from Amt Damme, Grand Duchy of Oldenburg.

Descendants of Johann Heinrich "Henry" Macke
1        Johann Heinrich "Henry" Macke       b: 16 Jul 1816 in Amt Damme, Grand Duchy of Oldenburg       d: 12 May 1899 in 411 Oak St., Evansville, IN
..              +Margaret Katherina Elpers       b: 07 Oct 1826 in Ahaus, providence of Westfalen, Prussia       d: 04 Jun 1912 in 411 Oak St. Evansville, IN       m: 06 Jun 1844 in Indiana

I collect any Macke information that I uncover. A Dutch researcher once told me that all Mackes from Oldenburg were related.
