Francis & Samuel Mackay, 60th Regt., F & I War
I am interested in finding other descendants of:
Francis Mackay and Marie Anne Marchand de Lignery
or Samuel Mackay and Louise Marguerite Herbin.
Francis and Samuel Mackay were brothers who were officers in the 60th Regiment during the French and Indian War. They both remained in Canada after the War and married French women. Their descendantsare to be found mostly in Canada and the U.S.
Francis returned to Europe in 1770 after the death of his wife, leaving his son and daughter to be raised by his brother and sister-in-law. During the American Revolution Francis re-enlisted in the British Army and was sent to Jamaica. He married a second time and died in Jamaica in 1789.
Samuel also re-enlisted during the Revolutionary War and eventually died as a result of illness and injuries in Montreal in 1779.
If you are also related to this family I would be very interested in hearing from you. I would like to share and compare information, including information on a new attempt to learn where they came from.
Bridget
