Dear All,
Your common ancestor is Captain James Mackay of the Sandwood Mackay group located southwest of Durness (Cape Wrath) Scotland.
In 1736 (approx.) Capt. Mackay departed Durness Bay with his wife Barbara Mcleod
for posting in America with the 41st Independent Highlander Company which became
later the 43rd Black Watch, then the 42nd
as naming conventions changed.
Information about the Sandwood Mackays and
his relation Major Hugh Mackay and Mr. Patrick Mackay may be found in "The Book
of Mackay" by Aeneas Mackay 1906. This is
regarded as THE book on the Clan Mac Aodoigh.
