Maybe we can help each other. I have a Rachel McIntosh (from MacIntosh of Inverness Scotland) in my line. She is my ggggrandmother who married David Philippe Golay. They married in Switzerland County Indiana, but I think she may have been from Virginia as her father Joseph McIntosh was bour about 1779 in Virginia. Joseph's father was William McIntosh -born 6 may 1745 in Inverness Shire Scotland 26 Dec 1765 Died about 1836 in Montgomery Kentucky. His father was William w. McIntosh who was married to Catherine Moultrie. Are any of these names sounding familiar? William W's father waws Lachlan McIntosh and from this point the line goes all the way back to 1179. This info can be found at Rootsweb and also at stirnet.com.
It sounds possible that your people may have descended from the same line, as the name William and Lachlan are used over and over and over all the way back to Shaw McIntosh.
My interest would be knowing if Rachel had brothers and sisters. I will try to look up when she was born. I know she died 1860 in Vevey, Indiana.
