I, too, am interested in this MACHEN family. Lewis Henry MACHEN of Walney Plantation was the husband of my kinswoman, Caroline WEBSTER. Caroline was his second wife and mother of all his children. Caroline was one of three living daughters of Toppan WEBSTER and his first wife Elizabeth FLAGG. The daughters were Mary Anne, Caroline and Harriet WEBSTER. Harriet and her husband Leon LALANNE were my gr. gr. gr. grandparents. Lewis Henry MACHEN was a prominent man in Washington DC during his lifetime, being Secretary of the U.S. Senate for many years.I am hoping to find through his descendants, his papers, and/or his correspondence more information on the WEBSTER side of his family. Other family surnames of interest connected to Lewis Henry MACHEN are Moncure, Russell, Powers, Porter, and others. Look forward to hearing from others who are interested in this branch of the MACHEN family.
