Macgillivrays in Nova Scotia early 19th century

Alexander Macgillivray, born anywhere between 1796 and 1830) was son of Donald Macgillivray of Dalcharn/Galcantry and Mary McNishies, one of 8 siblings. I have quite a lot about this family (relations of my Cawdor Macgillivrays) who were originally from Cawdor.

In 1859, Alexander Macgillivray was in Nova Scotia and had 10 children (names not known, but expect there one was Donald, another Mary, another Alexander). I would imagine the children were born 1840s and 1850s.

In 1859, his brother wrote:
I received a letter from Alexander dated the 22 of April last stating they
are all well. He says he is failing himself very fast. Has ten children
alive and one dead. The oldest girl at Halifax in a boarding school, three
of the boys and a girl at a country school near home (1859)

Does anyone have any info about this family? Jane Macgillivray, France
