I checked the 1880 census for Malone, Franklin County, and found this:
Daniel McGillivray 33 laborer Can. Can. Can.
Sarah 33 Keeping house Can. Can. Can.
John [ son ] 4 N.Y. Can. Can.
Ella [ dau ] 2 N.Y. Can. Can.
Hope this helps out a bit. I can dig some more and see what turns up.
How did you like the gathering in Portland? We thought it was great!!
