I just noticed I was not far off in my theory of the place named "Vamy" (Mamaidh) and that perhaps the MacGs who left Scotland made it sound like they came from their mothers - as the English translation of the word "mamaidh" pronounced "Vamy" is literally "BREAST SHAPED HILL" I surprise myself sometimes. I guess logic and good instinct always win out.
