Dan, In your reading would you keep an eye out for a Janet McG b abt 1786 in Scotland. She is the aunt of my gg-gf, Roderick Chisholm. I do not know if she was the wife of James or John for sure, but she died in Barbour Co Al. She left her estate to her nephew, Roderick, and money to his sister Janet. I believe it was 1856. I found records where he sold cotton, so he must have run her farm. I do not know if she was a Chisholm or if Roderick's mother was her sister. Just thought you might run across something of interest. We are at a dead-end on this. Thanks for any help.
