Hello.
At least we are in same approx area, etc, which is "something" for this era. They married in what is now Cambria County Penn, and he/parents had lived next door in what is now Blair Co Penn (both of old Bedford Co up to 1787 when both became part of Huntingdon Co; then Cambria formed 1804, and Blair remained part of Huntingdon untill way late, 1846).
Where were they living in Bedford County Penn up to Catherine's death in 1830?? Had they moved from Cambria/Huntingdon Cos area after marriage??
Matthew McAfee was living, most of known years, in the eastern side of Westmoreland Co (present boundrys), although a short time in western side of present Somerset Co (old Bedford Co). He was recorded "alone", as far as any research has ever turned up; parents/siblings unrecorded/unknown. He shows up on records there, age about 16/17, already in the Westmoreland Co Malitia.
Marietta, Ohio was a normal stopping/settling place on the Ohio River, but Matthew McAfee went all the way to Hamilton Co Ohio, and a short time later into Indiana Territory.
Even most of the southern McAfee reseachers have to come back to Penn, only in the eastern and central areas.
Take care.Regards, Dick
