Dimitri Atanas - Kastoria 1913
My family name on my mother's side is Tannas, although we know this is not the *real* last name.My grandfather Dimitri came to the U.S. from the area now known as Melissotopas in Kastoria sometime around 1913.His wife, Sofia, followed a few years later.Tanas was my grandfather's father's first name.He had three sons:Dimitri, Vanghel, Nikola and Lambros.Vanghel went to Argentina, but returned to Macedonia.Nikola and Dimitri came to the U.S. Lambros went to Bulgaria.Even though my grandfather went by the name Dimitri Tannas, we believe that was a bastardization of Dimitri, son of Tanas (or Atanas).Nikola went by the last name of Gouloff.Unfortunately, this is all we know, and although it's doubtful anyone reading this can help us get any further, I had to take a shot.Thanks.
