Hi, I know this is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but stranger things have been known to happen and I don't have many other options.
I have a Charlotte who died March 13, 1849 ("in 67th year") and is buried in East Greenwich Historical Cemetery #38 - plot number 38L-10. According to Bruce Campbell MacGunnigle, who researched and wrote, "East Greenwich, Rhode Island Historical Cemetery Inscriptions," her gravestone says that she was the wife of George.
I have other information that shows that this Charlotte was also the mother of George. There are many George Keach's in my family line and it has been confusing, so I have looked to the women in the George's lives in an attempt to illuminate where the George's came from originally. I know that this Keach line has been in New England in the late 1700's and possibly earlier and possibly used a different spelling of their surname.
Charlotte seems to be a key in finding the next "George". I need to somehow find out her maiden name and where she came from.
I have a few theories - and one or two of them are pretty wild, but then....
Can anyone help me? Even if you do not have a Charlotte in your family from that time, the name might have been passed down orally so someone in a future generation might have used it in rememberence.
Maybe Charlotte was born and named after a place -- Charlotte, North Carolina seems to be the obvious connection.
