Henry MACE (who is only *approximately* 50 years old - 1841 census rounded to nearest 5 years), may possibly be the Hen MACE who married an Ann WATTS in 1815 at Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, about 12 miles from Blockley, according to the IGI.
Kingham is less than 5 miles from Chipping Norton.
In any event, the IGI also lists the baptism of an Edward MACE (son of Henry and Ann) on 15 July 1821, Batsford, Gloucestershire (again less than 10 miles from Chipping Norton). Henry is also shown there, baptised on 11 April 1824. Another possible brother shown too - Robert MACE who was baptised on 3 October 1819. Two possible sisters also:
Sarah Ann MACE baptised on 22 October 1826, and a Harriet MACE baptised 1829.
Some of the children who don't appear in the census could have died young.
There is a Henry MACE who was baptised on 24 May 1789 at Little Compton, Gloucestershire - so about the right age. His parents are given as Thomas MEDCROFT and Sarah MACE, which may mean he was illegitimate...
They may have got married later? IGI lists these two children of Thomas MEDCROFT and "Sarah":
George MEDCROFT baptised 7 December 1800, Little Compton
William MEDCROFT baptised 25 March 1804,Little Compton
Going back...? The IGI lists a Sarah MACE baptised on 29 November 1767 at Little Compton who might possibly be Henry's mother? This Sarah MACE's parents are: Edward and Sarah MACE ...
Check out the IGI website at www.familysearch.org. It should not be relied upon as always being correct, but it is a useful pointer.
My MACE family is from Norfolk, England, by the way. :-)
