I am trying to locate information on Neal McDuffe, supposedly born in Scotland, possibly on the Isle of Islay on Aug 12, 1765; died Feb 13, 1849 in Milton, Ontario. He married Sally Jost (Yost) about 1794. She was born Dec 18, 1774; died Nov. 9, 1859 in Milton, Ontario, Canda. They had eight children all born in Milton, Ontario; 1. Anne McDuffe, born 7/25/1795 2. Peter McDuffe, born July 4, 1797; died May 19, 1828, Canada. 3. Mary McDuffe, born Aug 7, 1800; died Dec 24, 1875. 4. Phebe McDuffe, born 3/29/1802 5. Jacob McDuffe, born 8/30/1805 6. John McDuffe, born 4/25/1809 7. Sally McDuffe, born 4/25/1809 8. Daniel McDuffe, born 5/23/1812; died 8/7/1900. He married Rachel Snyder about 1840. We have been having a hard time finding where Neal lived in the U.S. before he crossed into Canada. Can't seem to find a record of him in Scotland or his transport to America, only colonies at that time. Story goes that he had gone to Ireland, then came to US, possibly with two brothers. Spelling of name could be McDuffy, MacDuffy, McDuffie, MacDuffie, McDuffe, MacDuffe, etc. His name could be Neil, Neal, Niel, Kneeland. Any help out there in cyberspace would be greatly appreciate. Thanks, a frustrated genealogy researcher. Betty MacDuff, for my husband Leigh A. MacDuff
