Thanks for the response.
Here is what I know about the portion of my family I am trying to find.
Theya arrived from Scotland sometime early 1750's. Most likely emigrated via Ireland. I do not know who William R. MacDougall's father was nor his mother I know he was born in NY NY he attended school and law clerked for someone as when he moved to Tenn in early 1810 to 20 he was a Lawyer.
His wife was Rebbeca Hamilton they were married in Ny Ny in what is now Grenwich Village. Family history is sketchy as to who the father was some say Alexander MacDougall others say he was the son of one of the Clan who had to leave Scotland after the jacobite revolution. I am sure if I can find thias missing piece or get direction where to look i might be able to trace further back to Scotland. The Marriage License has Rebbeca's guardian name but no family info the same with Wm. Maybe someday I will get lucky and discover this. Thanks for responding, we may be Kith and Kin but I not sure if we have a direct family link or not. As for as I know all of our MacDougall's came from NY NY later Nashville/Lebanon Tenn area. We are related by blood and marriage to the Brittan's and Drakes of Tenn.
