Hello W.H. This probably will be of no help but I figured it couldn't hurt. My great, great, great Grandfather was John Band Mac/McDougall. He was born in Scotland, from the Oban, Argyll area, likely in the early 1800s or very late 1700s. He moved to Ontario, Canada at some point, specifically in the Glengarry area. His wife was Mary and he had two sons, Duncan and Allen. Duncan had a son, Joseph McDougall. Joseph McDougall had a son, William John McDougall born 1903 VanLeek Hill, Ontario. Shortly thereafter they moved to the Niagara Falls / Lewiston, New York area. William John had a son, William Joseph McDougall born 1938 in Lewiston, NY. Somewhere I have the information on what ship they traveled on that includes a passenger list. Probably no connection here but since both families have roots in the Oban/Argyll area during the same time frame and both ended up in NY at some point, you never know. Let me know if you think there may be a connection. On a related (somewhat) note. We are in the process of planning a large MacDougall family reunion in the Niagara Falls, NY area for July 2008. We are in the early stages still, but a mailing will be going out soon, and we have a website: www.mcdougall2008reunion.com and an email address: mcdougallreunion2008@adelphia.net If you have any interest in attending please feel free to contact us.
