Hello,
My MacDougall line is from my mother's side.. I am certain that my ggGrandfather was William R. MacDougall born 1809 in NY, NY. He married Rebecca Hamilton in 1829 or 30. She to was from Ny, NY. They moved to Tenn around 1831.They lived in the area around Nashville. He was a Lawyer as was his son. The married into the Brittian and Drake Families in Lebanon Tenn mid 1840's. My ggrandmother was Elizabeth Britian Drake MacDougall who was born in Lebanon Tenn. Apparently they all (ggGrandfather family and kin moved to Tenn at same time early 1830) Though Brig Gen. Rutherford, family by marriage, arrive at the beginning of the 1800's. if any of this helps or sounds familiar let me know. I am searching for information on Wm R. family prior to his birth. Family history is vague where he is from except Argyll, Oban and Lorn area They allegedly arrived in America a couple of years after the Jacobite uprising of 46. I am presently the MacDougal Clan State Representative for Illinois.
W. H. MacDougall-Lemmer IV
