I would like to buy the MacDougall book which John McD Young and Ms. Ross were researching in 1998. My grandmother Hannah Mathews Macdougall Howard was born inor near Winnipeg, descended from the middle brother of William Macdougall. She married a prairie Howard from a line of Methodist ministers, and he opened a successful pharmacy, but he tried to keep up with wealthy Macdougall in-laws and invested in gold mines, went bankrupt, moved my grandmother and three young children to San Frabncisco in time for the Earthquake, which disabled him. My grandmother moved them to Santa Barbara. With "Macdougall resolve and tenacity", she opened the Howard School, which still exists in altered form in nearby Carpinteria. Her two daughters, who would grow up to teach in the Howard School, subscribed to Galley of Lorne. As her only grandson, I visited Dunolie in 1996 and corresponded with Lady Macdougall of Macdougall who suggested I find connections between William Macdougall and his ancestors in Scotland. I hope someone reading this forum will lead me along a line of ancestors to ancient Scotland and misty warriors who fought against Robert the Bruce.
