I'm sorry not to have any answers to your queries but I wondered if, in your search, you had come across McDonalds of St. John's New Brunswick. Most of my father's family emigrated before 1940 - I can only recall a Walter McDonald who must be deceased now, his sister Minnie and a cousin Michael. I have been searching for years with no positive results. I live in Essex UK.
